This Privacy Policy describes how Academy One (“the App”), developed by IT Gear LLC (“we”, “us”), handles your information. The short version: your data stays on your device. We operate no servers, collect no analytics, and have no access to anything you put into the App.

1. The Data the App Handles

Academy One is a student planner and journal. Everything you enter is created by you and stored locally on your device in the App’s sandbox (an on-device database plus media files). This includes:

• Academic data — schools, terms, courses, class schedules, teachers, rooms, assignments, exams, projects, due dates, grades, and GPA history.
• Diary entries — rich-text journal entries, moods, and attached images.
• Notebooks — handwritten notes and drawings made with Apple Pencil.
• Attachments — photos, scanned documents, PDFs, links, typed text, drawings, and voice recordings you attach to items.
• Settings — appearance, language, feature toggles, and similar preferences.

The App requires no account and asks for no name, email address, or any other identifying information. There is no sign-in of any kind.

2. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, transmit, or have access to any of your data. Specifically:

• No analytics or usage tracking. The App contains no analytics SDK of any kind.
• No advertising. The App contains no ads and no advertising identifiers (no IDFA, no App Tracking Transparency prompt — because there is nothing to track).
• No crash reporting services. No third-party crash or diagnostics SDK is included.
• No developer-operated servers. The App makes no network requests to us or to any third party. Everything it does runs on your device.
• No location, contacts, calendar, or health data. The App never requests access to these.

3. On-Device AI

Optional smart features (such as syllabus parsing, study nudges, and voice-note transcription) run entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models and Apple’s Speech framework. Your schedule, tasks, grades, diary, and voice recordings are processed locally and are never sent to a cloud AI service. If the on-device model is unavailable, the App falls back to simple on-device templates.

4. Device-to-Device Sync

If you choose to sync, the App transfers your data directly between your own nearby devices over local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth using Apple’s MultipeerConnectivity framework:

• The connection is encrypted (encryption is required, not optional).
• Pairing requires confirming a 6-digit verification code shown on both devices.
• Data travels only between your devices — it never passes through any server, ours or anyone else’s.

5. Backups

You can back up your data to a folder you choose — either in your own iCloud Drive or in “On My iPhone” — via the system file picker. If you enable it, an automatic daily backup is written to that same location.

• Backups you place in iCloud Drive live in your own iCloud account, governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and your iCloud security settings. We have no access to them.
• Backup files are integrity-checked (SHA-256) but are not encrypted by the App. If you keep backups in iCloud Drive, Apple’s standard iCloud encryption applies; either way, treat the backup folder as sensitive.

6. Purchases

The optional premium upgrade is a one-time, non-renewing purchase processed entirely by Apple via the App Store (StoreKit). We never see, store, or process your payment information. “Restore Purchases” works by replaying your purchase history under your own Apple ID. Apple’s handling of payment data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

7. Share Extension

The App’s share extension lets you send a file, link, or text from another app into Academy One. It does exactly one thing: copies the shared item into a private container shared with the main app on the same device, then opens the App so you can import it. Nothing is sent over the network.

8. Device Permissions and How They’re Used

The App requests only the following permissions, each used solely for the feature described:

Photos are accessed only through the system photo picker and document scanner, meaning the App sees only the specific items you choose — it never receives blanket access to your photo library.

9. Exporting and Deleting Your Data

• Export: You can export diary entries as documents and your full data as a backup file at any time, via the system share sheet or a folder you choose. Where exports go is entirely up to you.
• Deletion: Because all data is stored locally on your device, deleting items in the App — or deleting the App itself — removes your data from the device. Remember to also delete any backup files you placed in iCloud Drive or elsewhere if you want them gone.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed to be safe for students of any age precisely because it collects nothing: no personal information is gathered, transmitted, or shared by the App, whether from children or adults.

11. Third Parties

The only third party that processes any information in connection with the App is Apple, in these limited roles:

• App Store / StoreKit — purchases and download statistics (governed by Apple’s privacy policy).
• iCloud Drive — only if you choose it as your backup location (your own iCloud account).
• On-device Foundation Models and Speech framework — processing happens on your device under Apple’s platform protections.

The App integrates no other third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks that collect data.

12. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change how the App handles data, we will update this policy, revise the “Last updated” date above, and note the change in the App’s release notes. Given the App’s local-only design, the most likely future changes are clarifications, not new data practices.
